What is a foundation year?

The European School of Bruxelles Argenteuil (EEBA) is seeking accreditation to promote the Benelux Foundation Year.

The Benelux Foundation Year (BFY) is for high school students seeking additional qualifications and English language training to enter UK universities.

Once you pass our Foundation Year with the necessary scores, you can progress to one of 60+ partner universities. This includes 9 in the top 100 QS World University Rankings.

Students are guaranteed a place on a degree course at one of the 60 participating universities.

The goals of our BFY program are to: 

  • Inspire achievement and support students to thrive in their transition to university
  • Provide structure and guidance to help secure their desired university
  • Equip students with transferable skills and traditional values for success in the professional world.

THE BFY IS PARTICULARLY SUITABLE IF…

1. 

You are 16-20 years old and desire a GUARANTEED route into a Commonwealth University

2. 

English is not your first language, and you want to study for an undergraduate degree in a reputable Commonwealth University

3. 

You have finished high school but do not yet meet the requirements, including language skills, to pursue an English University Degree

All about the course

A Business-Focused Curriculum: 600 hours of in-depth courses tailored to create an intellectually stimulating academic environment.

4 core subjects

  • Business Studies
  • Economics / Sociology
  • Mathematics for Business / Global Studies
  • English for Academic purposes

600 hours of collaborative projects guided by experienced mentors.

  • Designed to develop essential workplace skills such as written and verbal communication, teamwork, and presentation capability.
  • Strategies for note taking, speed-reading, and exam
  • Learn to organise and prioritise activities
  • Public speaking, active listening, and professional

How will IT
be taught ?

This is a full-time, two-semester course, 5 days a week with at least 20 hours of lessons, plus coursework, workshops and mentorship.

You will engage in a variety of learning methods similar to those you will experience during your degree course. Most instruction occurs face-to-face on campus, complemented by a selection of online sessions.

What will my timetable look like?

  • Mornings will be dedicated to teaching the core
  • Classes are usually 1.5 hours and are mostly face-to-face on campus.
  • Afternoons will be dedicated to enhancing your English skills and participating in skill- based learning activities, providing you with the opportunity to review the morning classes and complete your coursework.
  • Lunch is available every day at the school

WHERE WILL I STUDY?

You will study on the inspiring campus of Château d’Argenteuil, nestled on the edge of the Forêt de Soignes in the city of Waterloo. This serene haven is just 15 kilometers south of Brussels’ city center. At the heart of the parkland estate stands the 19th-century Renaissance-style château, where the BFY classes take place. The campus also features excellent facilities, including a sports hall, football field, tennis court, and a beautiful park, offering a perfect balance between academics and leisure.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BFY?

Students must be able to show English language ability at IELTS 5.0 level or equivalent to start the Foundation Year.

We are organised as a non-profit organisation, accredited but not subsidised.
The tuition fees for carrying out the school project reflect the actual cost of schooling a student.
